Print Tips & Shop Notes
Print Tip

How to Get Better Results From Your Print Files

A good print starts with a good file. Sending clean artwork helps us quote faster, proof faster, and avoid delays once your job is ready for production.

When possible, send vector files for logos, labels, decals, signs, and banners. Vector files stay sharp at any size and are the best option for clean edges, crisp text, and accurate cutting.

Accepted file types may include PDF, AI, EPS, SVG, PNG, JPG, PSD, TIFF, INDD, and ZIP files. If you are not sure what to send, upload what you have and we will review it.

For photos and art prints, use the highest resolution file available. A small image pulled from a website or social media page may look fine on a phone, but it can become blurry or pixelated when printed larger.

For business cards, flyers, postcards, labels, and other printed pieces, leave space around the edges. Important text and logos should not sit too close to the final cut line. This helps prevent anything important from getting trimmed.

If your job needs a specific color, let us know when you request the quote. Screens can make colors look different from one device to another, so clear notes help us understand what you are trying to match.

Helpful checklist

  • ·Upload the original artwork when possible.
  • ·Send logos as vector files when available.
  • ·Use high resolution images for posters and art prints.
  • ·Keep important text away from the edges.
  • ·Tell us about any color matching needs.
  • ·Let us know if the file is not final yet.

Not sure if your file is ready? Send it anyway. We can take a look and let you know what may need to be adjusted before production.

Why Our Shop Works By Appointment

St. Pete Printing works by appointment so we can give each order the attention it deserves.

Printing is detail heavy work. Materials, sizes, finishes, file setup, turnaround time, pickup details, and shipping needs all matter. Working by appointment helps us stay focused on the jobs already in production while still giving customers personal attention when they visit.

When you come in by appointment, we are prepared for you. That means we can review your project, answer questions, check artwork when needed, and make sure we understand what you are trying to accomplish.

Appointments also help keep pickups organized. Instead of several customers arriving at the same time, we can make sure your completed order is ready, easy to locate, and reviewed with you if needed.

This process helps reduce mistakes, prevents order confusion, and gives us time to handle each project properly.

What appointments are good for

  • ·Discussing a new print project.
  • ·Reviewing artwork or material options.
  • ·Picking up a completed order.
  • ·Going over a recurring or custom job.
  • ·Talking through a project that needs special attention.

Our goal is not to make ordering harder. Our goal is to make sure your project gets the focus it deserves from quote to pickup.

Choosing the Right Material for Signs and Decals

The right material depends on where the print will be used, how long it needs to last, and what kind of finish you want.

For outdoor signs, banners, window graphics, and decals, material choice matters. Florida sun, heat, rain, and humidity can be tough on printed products, so it is important to choose something made for the environment.

Our HP Latex 335 is a strong fit for banners, decals, labels, and signage that need durable color and outdoor performance. Latex printing works well for many commercial jobs because it produces clean, vibrant graphics on materials used for signs, windows, and large format prints.

Vinyl banners are a good option for events, storefronts, promotions, and temporary outdoor advertising. Mesh banners can be useful in windy areas because they allow some air to pass through.

Decals and labels can be made for many different uses. Some are better for smooth indoor surfaces, while others are better for windows, products, vehicles, or outdoor exposure.

Foam board signs are best for indoor displays, presentations, events, and lightweight signage. Corrugated plastic signs are better for yard signs, directional signs, and short term outdoor use.

For posters, photography, and commercial level art prints, our Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8400S is a better fit. It is designed for high quality paper prints, art prints, photo prints, and detailed color work.

Common material choices

  • ·Vinyl banners for promotions and events.
  • ·Mesh banners for outdoor areas with wind.
  • ·Window decals for storefront glass.
  • ·Product labels for packaging and retail items.
  • ·Foam board for indoor displays.
  • ·Corrugated plastic for yard signs.
  • ·Poster paper and fine art paper for prints and photography.

If you are not sure which material you need, tell us where the print will be used and how long you need it to last. We will help match the job to the right material.
